From Your Island County Sheriff:
• A caller on Jan. 8 reported that a dozen cats were living in a vacant house on Swanson Lane.
• Deputies responded to a burglary at a South Camano Drive vacation home on Jan. 7. The owners of the residents weren’t sure when it had happened.
• Jan. 7, a Bretland Road resident reported finding a backpack with a handgun in it while walking his property.
• Deputies received a report on Jan. 7 that a gray Ford F-150 had crossed the centerline and almost hit an oncoming vehicle near the intersection of N. East Camano Drive and McElroy Drive. The caller said the vehicle was headed toward Stanwood.
• A S. East Camano Drive resident reported on Jan. 7 that a silver pickup truck had just crashed into his neighbor’s fence. The truck, occupied by a female driver and male passenger was last seen headed southbound.
• Jan. 8, a caller reported a possible fight just up the street from his Sundin Drive home. He said he heard someone say, “Get off me,” and pounding noises.
• Deputies responded to an abandoned vehicle near the intersection of SR 532 and Fox Trot Way on Jan. 8.
• A man reported computer fraud on Jan. 8.
• Jan. 9, a caller reported that a light-colored fourdoor vehicle failed to stop for a school bus near the intersection of Cross Island Road and N. East Camano Drive, even though the bus’s lights were flashing.
• Another caller reported a white Volkswagen Jetta in the middle of Monticello Drive, near Lost Lake Road. The car’s flashers were blinking and the driver’s door was open.
• A woman reported fraud in connection with her credit union account on Jan. 9.
• Jan. 9, a Spruce Ridge Drive resident reported that the day before, while she was walking her dogs, another dog knocked her down and attacked her dogs. The woman said she didn’t know the exact address of the dog’s home, but that it was on a nearby street.
• A caller reported a suicide threat. The caller said that the day before, an intoxicated man had been given some money to get a tooth fixed. When the man came back Jan. 9, he still seemed intoxicated. He was upset and left on foot after threatening suicide.
• Jan. 9, a Lockwood Drive resident called from out of state to report that his home had been broken into. The caller said his neighbor had noticed the side door to the house had been tampered with, and called him.
• A Turf Street resident reported that she let a 32-year-old woman stay at her house the night of Jan. 9. In the morning, the homeowner discovered that the woman had attempted to steal several items, which the homeowner found in the woman’s bag.
• An Aspen Drive resident reported that his 16-year-old son went for a walk on the afternoon of Jan. 9 and didn’t return.
• On Jan. 10, a Tillicum Way resident reported seeing a large white goat in the roadway, headed toward Arrowhead Road.
• Jan. 11 a caller reported that a person against whom he has a restraining order was at his Good Road residence, attempting to get in through an open window. The caller said the man had left, possibly headed toward Stanwood in a pickup truck.
• A South East Camano Drive resident reported an ongoing problem with his neighbors on Country Club Drive, who repeatedly take his cat.
• A North Sunrise Boulevard resident reported sounds of two vehicles racing on Jan. 12. The caller said one of the vehicles crashed into the woods. A man was walking away from the wreck, headed north on Sunrise.
• A Glacier Peak Drive resident reported that his dog had gone missing on New Year’s Day. Later, the dog came back very bloody. The owner had taken his dog to the vet and gotten him “fixed up.” On Jan. 12, he took the dog in for a follow-up visit and the vet discovered and removed a bullet from the dog.
• A woman called on Jan. 12 to report that she had gone to her ex-boyfriend’s house to pick up children and serve him paperwork. She said he was refusing to accept the paperwork or give the children up.
• Stanwood Police Department requested assistance from deputies on Jan. 12. The police officer said the driver of a blue 2001 Volkswagen Jetta drove away from the Twin City Shell station without paying for $46 worth of gas. The officer asked deputies to contact the driver at his Camano Island residence.
• A Nature Conservancy employee reported that he had made courtesy contact with the man who was renting a North Sunrise Boulevard parcel, and informed the man that he would be visiting the property on Jan. 13. The man replied that he “shoots coyotes out there all the time,” and that “we have guns and a concealed weapons permit,” which the Nature Conservancy employee understood to be an off-handed threat.
• A caller reported a possible drunken driver near the intersection of SR 532 and N. East Camano Drive on Jan. 12. The caller said the male driver of a black Honda Civic was weaving over the center and fog lines.
• Jan. 12, a Smith Road resident reported that he had interrupted a burglar, who ran into the field behind the property.
• A Thunder Road resident reported returning home on Jan. 12 to find the door had been pried open and things were out of place inside the house.
• An anonymous male caller requested to meet with a deputy on Jan. 12. The caller said someone has a “hit” out on him. He would not give any other information over the phone.
• On Jan. 13, a Maple Lane resident reported that sometime during the night, someone had tried to open the back door. The caller said this had happened before, and that occasionally gates on the property were opened.
• A caller reported that a vehicle was in the ditch near the intersection of W. North Camano Drive and Alta Via Drive on Jan. 13. The caller did not know if anyone was injured.
